Something is not right. I dont think this big and radical shift would happen so soon without a whole lot of wind tunnel and ground test

It’s possible that even with one TVC engine you can get away with no ventral strake, since all you need is one point of vector control. That said I highly doubt the ventral strakes will be removed, since that would have to mean changing the aerodynamics of the plane and thus risk downstream effects on both the flight control laws and also potential performance of the plane. That’s asking for more risk and work on what should by now be a rather mature design.If it is still flying with one AL-31 or WS-10, which is not TVC equipped, they still need central strakes.
