I don’t think so. They will require changes to the intakes.
Unless the frames are already designed for retrofit. Which isn’t implausible.

The intake may not be an issue here. Capture area may be designed for the WS-15, since it’s related to the external geometry of the plane, so any changes may be with the tunnel, or with bleeds, and the WS-10 class engines are the ones getting customized treatment. The other possibility is that the DSI bump simply needs to be reshaped/modified, and most of the engine class cross compatibility is being handled by the bump.

There are rumors that the five brigades of the PLAAF are simultaneously equipped with J-20 fighters. The news comes from the Weibo account: fyjs

Per that weibo post, isn't it the other person 洋务先驱张之洞 who is saying it?
I'm not sure if FYJS is supporting the notion...

Also, it depends if they're defining as "equipped" or "being equipped with" -- and also if they include the units at Dingxin and Cangzhou as "brigades".

And equipped with full J-20 or part of it ? .. so how many J-20 in those five brigades ?

The Weibo did not say how many J-20s are equipped in total.

The original words are just like this:

In any case, 5 brigades began to equip J-20 fighters at the same time. It is still an exciting milestone. Even the US Air Force has not tried to change 5 squadrons at the same time when receiving F35.

The three of them should already know that PLAAF's five brigades have begun to equip J-20 fighters. This has not been discussed. Under this premise, they are discussing whether PLAAF will eventually be equipped with 500 J-20 fighters.

Okay, so this particular weibo post is speaking from the assumption that 5 brigades had supposedly began being equipped with J-20s simultaneously.

But which post/who did the news originally come from? Cause it wasn't from this post in that case.

Still a second hand post but probably the full copy of the original news, in Chinese:

If it's based on this part: "同时成立五个接装团队" and this part "同时成立五个“一对一”接装团队" -- how do we know they're referring to five brigades meant to receive J-20s?

The entire article after all, is talking about CAC in quarter 4 in general, it's not talking about CAC's J-20 deliveries in quarter 4.

Isn't it possible (or indeed more likely) that they're talking about various aircraft types that CAC are producing (J-20s, J-10s, and also other aircraft like WL UAVs), that are being delivered to 5 customers or units simultaneously?
