What is with PLAAF love for unguided rockets? Is it because it is easy to wow domestic audience for its cheap cheap cost?

It's more PGMs are classified while rockets are not, so to play it safe instead of "is this safe for public consumption, what about this one" and getting it wrong sometimes with that PL-17 picture the publicity people just go find pictures and videos of rockets and go with those.

Doubtful. 4x is more realistic though.

Weight, and footprint (in particular overall width/wingspan and associated horizontal clearance space requirements) when seeing a PL-15 and PL-17 side by side, does make it unlikely that 8x PL-17s could be carried externally on a J-20 (as well as J-16/Flanker airframe for that matter).

Another one in Beats Mode … however IMO it could be - in fact most likely is - just a blurred CG similar to the one we saw with the PL-17!
