It's even worse for that poor J-35.

First ever 5th generation chase plane used for videography. Another first for China.Almost lost between all the news, the J-20S prototype acting as a chase plane for CAC‘s new fighter prototype/demonstrator is no. 2035, which was previously not confirmed.
Also interesting are the camera-pods.

This may have been overshadowed by the CHENGAD and SHENGAD, but this J-20S chase plane is really a proper testament to just how far Chinese aviation has progressed.Almost lost between all the news, the J-20S prototype acting as a chase plane for CAC‘s new fighter prototype/demonstrator is no. 2035, which was previously not confirmed.

Just like J10S not called J10AS?Just a thought: If the WS-15-powered J-20 that also features the redesigned spine and wider/reshaped radome is called the J-20A, then shouldn‘t be the twin-seater featuring the same changes to radome and also powered by WS-15 engines be logically be at least a J-20AS?

Speaking of which, I do believe it's reasonable to expect initial serial production units (if not the later-stage prototypes) of the J-36 and J-XDS to utilize WS-15 from the get-go.
