This video claims the WS-15 will have thrust vectoring. Is that true? This is the first time I've come across this claim regarding this engine.
It says WS-15 can provide super cruise and thrust vectoring ability.
I don't see anything wrong with the statement.
J-10B TVC demonstrator back in 2018 Zhuhai shows WS-10 can do thrust vectoring, let alone WS-15.
But none of WS-10 equip plane have the TVC.

And that's exactly what is wrong: ... "It says WS-15 can provide ... and thrust vectoring ability."
"J-10B TVC demonstrator back in 2018 Zhuhai shows WS-10 can do thrust vectoring, let alone WS-15." is again wrong!

We know, the WS-15 has NO TVC-capability and most likely (based on credible reports) will not have!

Eh the more precise explanation from Shilao and Yankee was that it can have TVC and was even tested but the PLA preferred it without.

You do realize you sound just like your buddy at Jane's that only count the satellite picture, right?

Exactly, they do have the ability but choose not to do it.
I don't expect J-20 do the J-10B TVC thing on airshow just to prove I'm correct.
Just logic and common sense that China master TVC back in 2018, sure they can do it again on WS-15 if they want to.

PLAAF decided the juice wasn't worth the squeeze on TVC. It confers supermanouverability but also increases weight, cost and maintenance requirements, while reducing thrust.

There is a difference between "can" (theoretically not impossible) versus "likely" and that difference is even more stark when considering the discussion is about engines which we always put into a higher level of vigilance.

There is a reasonable range of "plausible claim to be made" and talking about WS-15 as if the idea of it "can" maybe possess TVC is an extrapolation that is just on the wrong side of the fence in context of currently known developments and J-20A.

I understand people here are enthusiastic but I am noticing a trend where people see matter which are not yet clearly delineated or characterized or where knowledge is incomplete, and it is populated by suggestions on the more optimistic spectrum.
