The J-20 is likely much better than the F-22. Its radar and avionics are like two decades more recent.
The only weakness is the WS-10 engine.
AFAIK, the F-22A is stealthier than the J-20. The combat-coded F-22As also use the upgraded AN/APG-77(v)1 radar, which was certified in March 2007.

Given the U.S. technological edge at the time, I'd expect the AN/APG-77(v1) to be at the very least as capable as the radar on the J-20. I do expect, however, the J-20A's radar to be significantly more capable than the AN/APG-77(v)1.

Just another reminder that the J-20 is said to weigh 17 tons empty while the F-22 weighs 19 tons empty.

Even with WS-10Bs the J-20 still has a better empty weight to max AB thrust ratio of 1.728 than the F-22's 1.674.

And the WS-10C is rumored to be rated at even higher thrust of +150 kN.

Is that a guess based on hunches or a hypothesis?

Strictly frontal aspect wise, assuming roughly equal RAM capabilities (which, considering the maturity of Chinese material science, shouldn't be anything far-fetched), what are your reasonings to assume that?

The J-20 had 11 years' worth of technological advancements over the F-22. Composites is one of the biggest examples.

Ignoring the first LRIP blocks of J-20s with AL-31s, the J-20 (not A) in production now shouldn't be assumed as less stealthy than the Raptor. DSIs are almost guaranteed to be stealthier than caret intakes, and the usage of composites, RAM, etc. make this a reasonable assumption IMO.

And on the topic or radars... I'm pretty sure the J-20, even currently, uses GaN AESAs. And considering the J-20 has a radar radome that's quite bigger than the Raptor and can thus cram more T/R modules in it, I can't say the F-22 would have an edge here.

It's always delicious to see someone with some logical basis tear apart a coper.

An interesting post by @齐天孙猴:IMG_20240621_203119.jpg

In which he correctes Orca by saying the the J-20 can carry a total of 18 AAMs instead of 16. I assume Orca here meant
4+2 internal and 5 x 2 external = 16

Now, he didn't specify it, but could 齐天孙猴 be hinting that the J-20 can now carry 6 AAMs (assuming he isn't talking about the PL-12) internally in the main bay? 6+2 internal and 5 x 2 external = 18

So is the fin-folding PL-15 finally in service?

6 BVR+2 WVR internally
8 BVR+2 WVR externally with the BVRs on dual pylons
