Rise to every challenge? Loyal on the battlefield?

Either I'm linguistically retarded or this slogan is a bit weird. It's much more poetic or abstract than their usual slogans and I'm having trouble confidently deciphering it.

The first five character literally means "shining/shiny sword Zhurihe", which poetically alludes to training hard at the Zhurihe base, which is located in Inner Mongolia and where the latest 8/1 military parade was held.

The last five character basically means something like, "let one's patriotic deeds/exploits be recorded on the battlefield".

Taken together the entire slogan can be (over-)simplified as "train hard today, fight bravely tomorrow", or something like that.

亮剑 literally means 'shining sword' but apparently, the figurative meaning is 'even when a task is near impossible, try anyway'. 忠诚 means 'loyal' so the last five characters probably convey something to do with loyalty. I'll probably ask someone who's more well-versed with figurative Chinese and poetic devices when they're available.

亮剑...means showing off the sword as withdrawing from its sheath

Yes, and the phrase comes from a famous tv series with the exact same title. It means face your challenge.

The tv series' main character always says "when you are challenged by an opponent, you need to draw your sword and face up the challenge no matter how powerful your opponent is".

What could they be talking about? Anyway, it's an old photo, but it gives another perspective on the size of J-20.

Now onto a couple of newly released pics by well-known Chinese military photographers to celebrate the official confirmation of J-20's active service status...

Any idea why this was confirmed now agai? We all know the first J-20s were handed over to the PLAAF in december 2016 and they are operational since march '17 if not earlier.

To admit I'm a bit surprised, since I thought that hand-over took place in late 2016 and service entry in March.

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- China's latest J-20 stealth fighter has been officially commissioned into military service, according to Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense on Thursday.

The flight tests are being conducted as scheduled, Wu said at a press conference.

The J-20 is China's fourth-generation medium and long-range fighter jet. It made its maiden flight in 2011 and was first shown to the public at the 11th Airshow China in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, in November last year.

Your term operationnal can be arguable a true IOC - means ready for war completely is FOC - is declared for USAF by ex when the first combattant unit have some fighters in general about 10 for Sqn of 24 ( as recently for F-35A ) right now we know only a OEU have J-20 ...

NB : In France different administrative decision of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, i can't know for all countries ofc.

Ex for F-22
Introduction 15 December 2005 / IOC
