Chase plane for CAC would be a J-10 and I assume the same for PLAAF. J-15 is a PLAN fighter, so I am wondering whether this is some kind of display.

Don't know for sure but 2000L to 2400L is the speculation.
Thank you depends also for supersonic or subsonic speed...large aircrafts Russians Su-24 and 34 carry FT IIRC of 3000 l i think the more big for fighters bombers.

Without stealth aux tanks, they'll see it coming for 6,500km.re #4006, here's a video......
with 4 auxiliary tanks, it can reach a distance of 6, 500 km....
There are no radars I know of that have a range of 6,500 km. Heck, pretty sure that would be well over the horizon.
It was taken at CFTE supposedly...
The J-15A acting as chase plane is probably because that J-15A is one of the aircraft which happened to be testing at CFTE.
What are the fins on the fuel tank for?
