It seems no one has posted April Fool this year, maybe this can be considered as the one.

True, but since Deino didn't like it?? maybe he was being serious?? It looks kool, and I can definitely see the utility of having a back seater. I'm just wondering if maybe the fourth bird in the last batch was a "static test bird" or something? and we are going to have to wait to see the first batch of four LRIP birds??

Really though, I was rather certain she would be up and running any time?

To admit, I like it very much but due to the last very busy days I simply omitted that on Friday it was April's fool's day ! ... as such my question was indeed serious - even if I surely know that this images is only a PS-job ! - but do we have any hints that such a version is under development ?

and I like it as well, where the F-35 would be a little crowded with a second seat, the J-20 looks like it was made for a back-seater?

I like the idea. I think the J20 is a very good candidate for a 2 holer especially for long range interdiction strike.
Down the road if they have the numbers produced it is certainly viable to also convert the hull into a non stealth configuration with external hardpoints i.e Strike Eagle and/or just modify the internal bays for SDBs etc since it has good kinematics. This is especially true when they have more powerful engines available for the bird.
That big bird can carry a lot of ordnance if built right with the right engines.

I actually hope they make a twin seater, but not as a bomb truck (there will be enough JH7s, Su30s, J16s and future stealth bomber for that role), but as a air combat UCAV controller.

A slightly modified HMD would allow a pilot to take direct command cover a air combat UCAV (something like the Sharp Sword for example) and pilot it as if he was in the cockpit. The flight controls and head tracking equipment would all be installed as standard anyways, a physical switch/button and toggle between aircraft and UCAV control for the back seat.

All that means that there would only need to be minimal modifications made to the actual J20, and the back seat pilot could easily and seamlessly transition back to a much more traditional backseater role in the event his UCAV is shot down, runs out of fuel/ordinance (would have it autopilot back to a base, or handover control to a group station for it's RTB phase) or switch between the roles as needed.

The stealthy J20 could get close enough to the action where communication lag is a non-issue with minimal detection risk. It will also pack enough punch to be happily jump in to mop up after the UCAV dies or need to RTB.

I really think the first air to air UCAV will be backseat controlled from a nearby manned fighter, and the J20 is perfect for that role.

It is a nice idea, but it isn't going to work, because it is a sure way to make the guy in the back seat go sick and vomit everywhere.
