I'm pretty sure the little frontal trapezoid is a forward facing EO aperture. I believe the F-22 has full 360 degree IR coverage, but only for missile warning.

Is there any comparable kind of system on the PAK FA? The EO system on that aircraft is known as the 101KS, but I'm not sure where all the apertures are.

I've noticed it before, but it seems smaller than the other side mounted MLDs on the F-22's nose (what I presume to be below the air data sensor)

file.php

But there's also that smaller aperture aft to the air data sensor, which may be the side looking MLD instead. If that aperture is the MLD, then the aperture on top of F-22's nose could be an MLD as well. Unfortunately, I haven't dug up any information confirming which apertures are what. If those tiny holes really are F-22's MLD, then it's quite clear F-35 and J-20's larger apertures have a much wider field of view.

I believe PAK FA is meant to have something an all around facing MAWS as well, but we don't know if it's merely MAWS or something like DAS. Yeah, it's called "OEIS" or something, meant to have UV all round MAWS called 101 KS-U, but I'm not sure if it has the tracking/surveillance/display capability of EODAS or if it's just a MAWS.

Well, the T-50 has side and rear AESA radars (also the ominous L-band radars).

I guess outside of a standard MAWS the Russians following a different concept than the USA and China in this regard.

F-22 was actually originally meant to haul both an IRST ala F-35, as well as cheek side looking AESAs.

As for J-20, there are side cheek ares on its nose which make me speculate if they're side looking radar, and the oft mentioned twin tail booms which have been suggested to be rear facing radar.

You're right, and my bad, the T-50's 101KS-U seems to be UV rather than IR.

According to the product page, the F-22's AN/AAR-56 has 6 cameras that provide full spherical coverage. Also, it is allegedly multispectral, but I don't know if that just means different wavelengths of IR.

I have a hard time believing how those L-band arrays can be radars. You would have practically no elevation control, and all reliable evidence suggests that those arrays are IFF.

A Barracuda style system + several radars would be a quite complex and expensive system. I would be surprised if the J-20 ends with both systems to provide coverage around the aircraft.

You wouldn't need two expensive L-band arrays to provide IFF.

T-50 features multiple optical sensors, including something like two or three steerable IRSTs I believe, on top of their multiple radars, I don't think it is unlikely for PLAAF to look at similar subsystems for J-20.

And barracuda is a self defense ESM-RWR suite, which of course T-50 and J-20 will both have similar sensors, so I'm not sure why multiple radars and such a system would be incompatible. Like I said, F-22 was originally designed with side looking radar upgrades too

Yes, I'm aware of that too, but like I said, I've found no source detailing where the six are installed.

I think you're referring to those two little spheres on the T-50's spine and under the front fuselage. Those are actually DIRCM turrets, and I don't think they have IRST functionality.

Yes, you're right, 101KS-O is its designation.

Some ideas for number hard points under wings and qty air to ground/surface weapons, payload ?

There are hardpoints under the wing and there is a picture on CJDBY pointing them out (not easy to see). Pretty sure that J-20 will support air-to-surface weapons or fuel-tanks. Only if I could find the picture again...
