My guess is it's an electric generator car to supply the plane with enough electricity to the plane to start the engine or run diagnostics without starting the engine.

That's more likely, and with the start cart/generator you can run the whole bird sans engines, particularly all the self diagnostics, and you can bet everything has a test series and a "read-out" of the results. You can see the control surfaces "self check" on each pre-flight video we have of the J-20. On a fighter aircraft,,,,,, you would need to be very cautious working around control surfaces, doors etc, as they are very dangerous if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A little OT. There is a video of a deck hand who was sucked into the engine of a jet on board a US carrier. He survived. Not so lucky was an experienced technician who stepped too close to the engine of a Boeing 737 and was spit out the back as mince.

well the deck operator who was sucked in had his helmet come off and go through the engine before him that broke the engine up clearing the way for him the poor guy who went through the 737 did not.

What makes you think that?

It may require air supply and electrical supply to start an engine. In the photo, a tube is connected to a hole near the intake. And it is said that electrical connector/interface of J-20 to reduce maintenance door number. So I think that may be an air supply car.

you are likely quite right, and I am speaking as one who has some experience with batteries, and start carts, but zero experience with an aircart, other than from a distance??

Welcome aboard Z-man, we do have a thread for new member introductions, but we do particularly value the participation of Chinese members, and many of us love the J-20, great thread to make a first post. I see you have shared a picture of 2011, and if you read some of the early posts about the 2011, members here have shared some very outstanding observations about the engineering changes from 2001/2002..... feel free to ask questions, and make observations, and as the mods always remind us ----please read the rules..... I am very certain that you will enjoy the forum, and we appreciate you joining us this evening and introducing yourself. Brat

Yes.. It's call a GPU (ground power unit).. basically an external apu with wheels.

so kwai, you are only about 50 miles away from me, I live North of Alton, Il, back OT, do they still use air to start turbine engines, and how does all that work??? I've seen the carts with a large 6" or so flex tube???? is that air conditioning??
