That would make a nice Christmas present for the Sino Defense posters, as well as support my new pet theory that the ADIZ will highlight the need for a Combat Air Patrol fifth gen to offset the F-35 in S Korea and Japan, in fact I expect the president to make a visit to Chengdu in the near future......
I still can't figure out the clipped tips, maybe the, Eng or TUP have an aerodynamic theory, by the way, I'm not against it for aesthetics, but I really don't think the ventrals should go away completely, there have been way to many aircraft with not enough vertical stab.......
I guess the clipped tips might be an L/O enhancer, a little softer edges???? brat

New stealth coating, did anyone upload this today?

I thought so too, but digging through some Chinese threads, I'm not so sure anymore. Apparently it's also 2001.
If this picture is valid, I'd at most say maybe a new color scheme. Not necessarily a new stealth coating, if any is applied at this stage at all. I'm not sure if it's possible to tell by color if a (new) stealth coating is applied. Looking at this picture, a less dark paint scheme would be appropriate.
I am expecting the J-20 to receive an "official blessing" from Xi at any time, an infusion of cash and bringing her back out front with a few "accomplishments", at the very least blowing a little "grey pigment" on her, will lead us PHAN-Boys to speculate she is "too hot to handle" and the latest "it chick" in the fighter world, kinda like taking your girlfriend to the mall for a "makeover", she's still your sweet "chunky chick", but as the girls say," a new coat of paint makes every old barn look better". In my humble opinion, this is the main purpose of the new ADIZ, to highlight the "existensial threats to China" and to give the people a "heart" to defend the motherland. Maybe a taste now, and more "official" roll-out after the Chinese New Year.
But then I predicted the roll-out of 2003 last spring, so who knows??????
