simple F-15 mach 2.5 class, F-22 mach 2 class, there is no ambiguety as you claim.

Lockheed says max speed of F-22 is Mach 2 class as Boeing says F-15 max speed Mach 2.5 class.

J-20 is around Mach 2 speed like F-22, very likely Mach 1.8

Mach 2 class does not mean the aircraft is limited to Mach 2.0. It means the aircraft is capable of exceeding Mach 2.0. Your own source debunks your own claim. ROFL!

You are right about that. But it then turned out that there was only one side that had that "lip", so people felt that it couldn't be that. And also in the beginning some "insider" had said that the adjustable part was within the intake... Anyway, we just don't know and have to wait and see.

P.S. Gee, I just turned the page again! ...Player call Brat, Player call Brat. Come in and interpret this!

Well, considering those people have personally seen the J-20 up close, their words have much more weight than certain fan boy of Russian military whose only ability is invention of pseudo-aerodynamic theories.

Actually the top speed of the F-22 and the YF-23 are classified, they could tell ya, but then they'd hafta kill ya! cause ya tell everything you think you know! one thing is certain Mig, you will never have a Top Secret clearance. Sorry Charlie, AFB

Physics do not change and apply to everyone, called the democracy of physics or dictatorship of true, but Sukhoi took the caret type inlet of F-22 and added a variable geometry system and the patent says Mach 3, but Russia does not claim T-50 flies at Mach 3, in fact they say 2600km/h around Mach 2.4, slightly faster than Su-27`s Mach 2.35, and Zelin declare T-50 is faster than F-22.

Now make your calculations, if you claim F-22 is a Mach 2.4, then PAKFA should be faster, but here is the secret, Stealth fighters use a lot of composites that restrict their speed.

Stealth fighters are not made of titanium as SR-71 or MiG-25.

So F-22 is not as fast as you want to portrait, in fact if it reaches Mach 2.1 it will be not very recommendable.

PAKFA either is not much faster than the Su-27.

The Russians know the F-22 speed simply because they designed an intake based upon the F-22`s but with variable geometry.

To Sukhoi Physics is better than an open secret.

Russian estimates claim J-20 is a 2000km/h or Mach 1.8 fighter, simple Physics

Even at zenith, Soviet Union couldn't match the West in aerospace technologies. As an example, the Tu-144 at its final iteration still wasn't able to match the performance of the Concorde. After the fall of Soviet Union, Russia's research establishments face severe budget constraint. Without adequate funding to sustain inlet research as America and China do, the chance of Sukhoi successfully creating a Caret inlet to match the US would be low. So naturally, Sukhoi has fall back on variable-geometry. In other words, variable-geometry inlet was the choice because Sukhoi most likely does not have any other choice.

Guys ... again, can we leave out all these discussions - I would say "attempts to persuade" - out of the J-20 trad and put it in the aerodynamics tread ? THANKS.

I think it's fake. I see artifacts when zooming in closer.

Nyet!, this is one area were the lets keep it secret boys do have a point, weapons testing is very seldom public unless it is much farther along in the developement phase and is to demonstrate capability. It is most unlikely that the J-20 would be anywhere around weapons, other than for trial fittings etc., and with only two flying prototypes, this is not going to happen. Can we assume then that 2002 is no longer at Chengdu and has joined 2001, and should we also speculate that 2003 may have a rollout and first flight at Chengdu shortly after the New Year? AFB

That picture is obviously a fake.

J20s have only ever been photographed in the skies over Chengdu, and more specifically, in the skies above CAC. Anyone think they would be firing off anything over such a densely populated urban area?

In addition, why on earth would they even bother integrating rocket pods onto a stealth fighter?! The PLAAF love their rocket pods, but they don't love them that much, nor are they stupid to be using stealth fighters for mud moving.
