Didn't mean they switched out the model. I think they switched out an old Al-31 for a newer one.

I'd bet 2001 has had the engines switched out several times, engines are cheap compared to prototype airframes, always interesting to go through the engines and check for cooling, and any signs of excessive heat or wear, just SOP. brat

I just noticed that the pitot tube on 2001 is in a different place than on the 2002. Can anyone confirm? PSed? etc....seems like one is directly on on the radome tip while the other is offset to the right like we know it to be.
That's always been the case.

So there's still no sign of '2003' or proof for '2004' as a new airframe ??? 
But there's hope since I'm now off for the holydays and again I'm sure we will see a new prototype ... maybe Y-20 '20002', and so on ...
