I hope 2003 gets rid of the darn pitot tube!

according to back issue of aviation week,US also seeking way either to get rid or find alternative to pitot tube.in the end they gave up.
according to the magazine F-117 stealthness was "compromise" by pitot tube.

Come on guys, aviation week????,, F-117, that was first gen L/O, but it worked very well, only ONE wobbling goblin lost in combat in a very tough G2A environment???? The J-20 IS IN FLIGHT TEST, quit worrying about the stupid pitot tube, they are gathering data to build an aircraft, they NEED all the data they can come up with, IT IS CHINA's maiden voyage on L/O, and they want to get it right, that Pitot ain't goin no--where, it is mining flight test data on every flight. It remains a PROTO-TYPE, not LRIP as is the J-15. If they are going to emulate another aircraft it is going to be the F-22, which is, and will remain the one and only STEALTH FIGHTER, although that technology is now 25 years old. The F-35, T-50, nor the J-20 are very unlikely to match, much less exceed the L/O characteristics of the Raptor, period, exclamation point! The Raptor remains a BLACK AIRCRAFT, the last of the real skunkworks babes, the one good thing about the sequester is that they will cut flying hours on chick, hopefully preserving those airframes for the day they will be called upon to defend America..brat

there's no missile not even a dummy PL-21 missile.a big let down.

Why a big let-down? Why nit-pick the little things? Running out of things to pick on? They have their schedule to adhere to. They will not test missiles until the time they finish everything ahead of missile testing on their schedule. Plain and simple.

You have missed the single biggest "let-up" by J-20. The 2002 has been moved to Yanlian test center. The expert interviewed (shown in the post above) clearly stated that what maneuvers and other little stuff done/not done by 2002 are not important. What is important is that it has been moved to Yanlian. Since Yanliang is PLA's official testing facility, it basically indicates that both 2001 and 2002 have been advanced to the next level of testing, the most rigorous part of the testing. This means they have passed all the previous tests thrown at them with flying marks. PLA is satisfied with the planes enough to advance them. Another thing is that both 2001 and 2002 have officially become prototypes? Not sure about the translation. The Chinese words says "model being fixed". I am not sure what it means. I'm guessing it means becoming prototypes?

The missiles in the main bay are fully recessed until release. There is no benefit or need to fly with dummies until they intend to do separation tests.
