That would make sense. But this also begs the question of why the J-15D isn't catapult compatible even though it'll undoubtedly be an essential part of the 003's airwing.

I doublt that this batch will be CATOBAR-compatible.

Isn't that quite shortsighted on the PLANAF's part? Both the 003 and 002 will be using these jets.

There is a nonnegligible trade-off between CATOBAR compatible and performance so I don't think they will be modified unless necessary.

Do you think that - or know if - the J-15B has the anticipated upgrades such as AESA radar, WS-10 engines, new cockpit, and such.?

Oh please... they won't sell J-11Bs or any other kind of Flanker since they are not licenced even if they had one for the A-model with a strict no-export clause and you suggest to sell a completely illegal reverse manufactured carrierborne type even more to countries without a carrier???

A more stupid idea is really difficult to suggest.
