Correct. But US is the hegemon and China is not. A large difference in position which leads to different strategic and operational needs and thus to different equipment choices even when China can learn a lot from US methods.
I.e. plan is to ask to fight fairly? :)

12 new pilots have joined the PLAN carrier aircraft unit today.

This must be new recruit who join the carrier training and not yet carrier qualify. am I right?
Let do some accounting . The first batch is 6 they probably act as instructor and not on active duty list.
Out of 30 initial roster 16 are Carrier qualify. So they need fresh intake of new trainee.
So this must be these guys. Yup they better crank up new carrier qualify pilot since the J15 production is now up to 22 according to Sinosoldier post

What I would like to know, what's the current production rate of J-15 and J-16 per month, how many lines are open for each type and (IMO I don't think so) if J-11B(BS are still manufactured?
Less 1 lost so 18 but with prototypes/pre series ? not able for combat normaly in this case about 12 a Sqn.

Awfully slow ( just 20 J-15 ) rate of production, don't you think?
It is no production rate. They build some, if they need some. Call it production on demand.

Now the task of the carrier force is to gain experience (a fifty-years-project, startet thirty-five years ago). The carrier force will be brought to usefull strenght for power projection later (in fifteen years), when it is ready.

In the 1980th the Chinese people were looking ahead and already knew, what they will need in the 2030th. That is impressing planning! And the carrier force will be ready in the 2030th. Remember all the people that told us, China can not run a carrier force. They can and they will be well prepared when the time is coming.
