Very interesting, my friend.
The areas behind the tracks could in fact be excavations to house catapult machinery.
This is yet another place we should carefully watch to see what the PL:AN is doing. If they put in place a catapult capability at their training facility it can only mean that they have probably been testing it elsewhere.
It would become an operation there at Huangdicun similar to Lakehurst, NJ, in the states.
It would certainly mean that the PLANB will have a CATOBAR carrier in the works. Perhaps after whatever is currently being constructed.
All production J-15s in the first batch are using Al-31s it seems, so don't get your hopes up.

I did not know there is a thread on PLAN Naval Training Facility.
By the time I saw the reminder from Deino, and checked out the thread,
it was too late to edit.
If any mod feels that the picture is useless and redundant,

Huitong is claiming that the J-15S is equipped with the 14-ton WS-10 variant. The second batch and beyond will also be equipped with such engines.
Well, he's saying that J-15S is equipped with WS-10, and the 14 ton part has a question mark associated with it so it's a little uncertain.
I do not see him claiming the second batch will be produced with WS-10s, but the J-15 entry is a big one so I might have missed it.
On another note -- it turns out the RCS tests of the EW J-15 from a while back was part of a study that is in english! Again, from Beihang university. I'm just going through all their papers in science direct right now, posting studies which are of interest to us.
