If You look closely, then all SAC-build Flankers have their construction number noted on the intake and like Blitzo noted correctly, the first two numbers are denoted to the batch - I often call them Block similar to the ones used on the F-16, however batch is probably better indeed ! - while the second one shows the aircraft's individual number within that batch.

PS: by the way, Huitong has now '111' too !

Yeah, I think it's better to call them "batches".

Even for F-16s, "block" typically refers to capability upgrades rather than production run per se (such as Block 50/52 referring to F-16C/Ds)

You are surely correct, since a F-16C Block 30 is a vastly different bird to a Block 50 or even more Block 42/52. If it were the old days like the F-4 Phantom II-series, they would have been designated F-16E, F-16G, F-16H and so on ...

I will use batches from now on !

nice find Deino. I was expecting all 14 of them to be first batch, since we saw 113 a while ago and haven't seen any newer ones since.

Hey ... J-15 '113' is already a block 02 aircraft !

I have seen 113 before, but thought that was part of the "batch" of 100-113.

I thought the second batch would start at 114.

Now, there may be two blocks in that first production batch for sure. But I thought the first production batch was 14 aircraft.,

If it is ten aircraft...then we are indeed on the second batch.

I am just not sure how many the factory is producing at a time in what we would call a bacth.

We know that there are 14 production aircraft flying...at least that is what we have seen to date..

Very nice pictures... I expect we'll be getting the actual video soon as well.

I think that is so far the most J-15s that have been seen on deck on Liaoning yet.
Nice. I love seeing the five J-15s together on the Liaoning.

It is very possible thet they have had more that we just have not seen yet.

I believe this photo...

Liaoning-4xj15.jpg

and this photo...

...are from very similar training or qualification type events.

I was emailed this from a friend in the far east. He did not say where he got it, and asked me what I thought of it.

I indicated I would post it here to get some comments, but that I was unaware of any other photo of a 114 to date, and thought that since 14 aircraft had already been seen, that a 15th would either mean a second batch...or that we were wrong about 14 in the first batch..

What do you guys think?

There were 10 aircraft in the 1st batch; 114 would belong to the second batch.

If this photo is authentic, it makes me wonder how many other unseen J-15s are there.

I think Deino's suggestion in post 1013 is reflective.
So:
batch 1 features ten aircraft from No. 100 to No. 109
batch 2 is from No. 110 onwards... so No. 114 would be the fifth of the second batch

So ten aircraft in batch 1, and at least five for the second batch so far...

There were 10 aircraft in the 1st batch; 114 would belong to the second batch.

If this photo is authentic, it makes me wonder how many other unseen J-15s are there.

Seeing as the second batch is likely in the middle of production right now, there probably are not too many extra J-15s we don't know about... single digits, most likely.
