Does anyone have any information on this? I am almost definitely sure this is a J-10A with an AESA radar installed, is the entire remaining J-10A/AS/AH fleet getting an avionics overhaul? I don't believe there is any news on this matter so far and this doesn't seem to make much sense since they are already phasing out some of the older J-10As

In fact per my understanding this is indeed a J-10A but if it is a one-off testbed for the radar, a single converted airframe for test or part of more I don't know and in fact I think we simply know nothing.

It is a matter of necessity. J-10A has been in operation for almost two decades and slotted array antennas tend to degrade over time, the worst losing 50 percent of detection range. If they don’t update the antenna it is pretty much useless for BVR.

So I guess it is safe to assume there is some kind of operation going modernizing all the legacy J-10As with these new AESA radars?

EDIT: Is there other known programs in place to replace radars/avionics on older aircrafts like JH-7As and J-8Fs still in service or are they just gonna chuck them in the trash when the radars degrade too much. Since apparently none of the original J-11As/Su-27SKs remain in service and the Bs are all getting upgraded to BG standards.

Ones with lifespan still left will be upgraded. Issue with J-11A/Su-27 is that their internal structure and avionics architecture make it very hard to do plug and play.

So potentially there will be a J-8FG with AESA, new avionics and PL-15/10 integration??? I guess it is still a very good interceptor might be potentially useful in the western front

No only J-8 reconnaissance variant will remain in service.
