Concerning the new J-10C variant, what irritates me is, that also the spine and some antennas installed are different to a regular J-10C.

No gun too...didn't noticed that

Removal of the gun is interesting too. GSh-23 is not that big. Would be surprising that they removed it because of the risk of damaging the pod with empty casing while firing. I would be scare of gravels thrown by the landing gear if it's that...

Maybe, although I struggle to see why they wouldn’t just externally hang a EW pod on one of the intake hardpoints aka F-16C block50/52 if this is just a SEAD platform

It could be some sort fighter to fighter data link.few years ago ,boeing developed similiar device for f15 ,allowing a single fighter to coordinate with other fighters. I forgot the designation.

It need to be freakin important to discard the center fuel tank for it... anything that can go under the wing or other hardpoint would go there.

The device purpose probably determined his position. Couold have been made longer to accomodate fuel but nope, made to be clear of obstacles all arround. Intriguing.

Maybe it's just a test rig too but dedicating a new fighter for that when iit could have been put below a transport aircraft or something else make it even stranger if it is.

They are saying that it is not J-10 VISTA or J-10 reconnaissance.

That leaves only AI simulator I guess.

Yankee rarely shows model in his own episodes.
