J-10 Thread IV

There is another reason for the radar upgrade: the original PD radars are very old at this stage and capabilities have deteriorated from use. Some of the worst ones can only see half as far as they did before. Radar change for some of the J-10A is a necessity rather than luxury.
But they're definitely getting different radars, rather than just being a brand new J-10A radar?

J-10A should have an upgrade package like F-16V.

PLAAF still have plenty of them (around 200 or more), with AESA or new engine. J-10A would do well as rear guard in time of conflict. At least it could be more or less equal with ROCAF upgraded F-16V.
The B variant of the J-10s as well needs AESA upgrade. The J-11As and J-11B/BS/BH/BSH too needs AESA upgrade.

Erm, with all due respect, saying that F-16V is more capable than upgraded J-10A when we literally know a single photo of the single part of the latter is bias, to put it mildly.
F-16V's aesa is liquid-cooled so it's reasonable to assume it has better performance.

It's also older, as is the whole upgrade package(which goes weeell beyond the type of radar array) and the airframe underneath it.
We shall pay attention to the fact that by the early 2020s, we're firmly in an era where the whole development cycle of systems may have happened in a technologically-competitive China.

It is significant.
