According to a reputable source at PDF, the Pakistan Air Force's top brass, including the Chief of Air Staff, is favoring the purchase of the J-10C as an interim solution and the PAF's top-line fighter platform until their 5th-generation Azm project comes to fruition.
The same source also stated that the J-10C and JF-17 Block III might share certain subsystems.
However I sometimes have the feeling that some Pakistani members, especially at the PDF and even including several "reputable" have the opinion as if it's always something like a "request concert" (as we say in Germany), as if everything that the PLA has in trail or already in use is available at any time and at best also for free.
There are some dreamers - or shall I say fan boys - which print an image of JF-17 Bl. II + III flying together with J-10C, the Turkish TF-X and also Azm, eventually alongside Su-35 or even J-16s, which of course are operated alongside or together with the EW version of the JF-17, the JH-7B - although it does not exist (any more) - and the J-16D.
So as long as there is nothing more officially reported, it really does not excite me very much to see a Pakistani officer no matter what rank in a J-10C. IMO that's more or less the same as seeing an Iranian officer in a JF-17, which some also take as prof, Iran WILL get the JF-17.
