J-10 Thread IV

He know he is in them. One was a setup piece anyway. He is all retired now from 611. His students are the ones leading the place.
A bit of J10 history.

Remember those vertical metal strips for the J10a air intake before DSI was developed? My uncle developed that, they had DSI designed, but the industrial capacity/technology was insufficient for manufacturing apparently. So a work around ( vertical metal strips) was developed to get the plane out faster.

There is still some problems with the manufacturing work force of 611. Some of the workers are poorly educated, without high school diploma even (the old guys). And actually damaged some prototype parts while constructing them because they don't understand the manuals fully or follow the procedures. They simply did what they did before. Example, for the screws on the new planes, the construction manual states exactly how many turns are needed per screw. In the beginning, some construction guys didn't bother reading manual and just tighten as much as they can, and damaged the screws and the piece they were building. In the end new parts had to be reordered from Germany, causing several months delay. Don't know what they did for resolution. Just know they started making all parts themselves later.

What identifies it as a J-10C and not a J-10B? Previous pictures show it doesn't have the second spinal antenna that J-10Cs do.

This cover actually labels it a J-10B on the lower right side though.

But we know some reporters even in Chinese magazines can barely differ a J-10B from a J-10C ...

If you look at these details ... I would say it's more likely a C than a B:
