Yes, but that would mean 66. Brigade ???
I remember some time ago, the Gripen beat the J-11A in the same exercise. The J-11 apparently won in WVR combat but was beaten in BVR and some other category ... If this rumor's true, congrats to the PLAAF. The Gripen is a serious competitor to any 4th generation fighter ...Interesting... Rumors about the J-10A beating the Gripen during Eagle Strike 2017 sino thai exercise.
On parle de la victoire de J-10A sur le JAS-39 Gripen dans l'exercice aérien sino-thaïlandais “Eagle Strike 2017”. A confirmer tout de même.

Yes the Grippen Jas-39 A - D not the new E have a less powerful radar but the Flanler is a much more big target... Grippen a little more agile as Typhoon, Rafale ITR 30°/sec vs 28 less good for STR.I remember some time ago, the Gripen beat the J-11A in the same exercise. The interest in attacking ground targets in much larger in Western air forces than in PLAAF because they often attack countries whose air forces are soon defeated (Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya come to mind ). Thus will the fighter aircraft remain useful they have to carry loads of bombs and A2G missiles. For A2G capabilities curiously Chinese build fighters host only 500 kg bombs max so even the small Grippen is equal for A2G load with a J-10, the E is better.
Same weakness for Flankers for 35 t payload max 8 t a F-15E have 10.7 t.
For medium to heavy fighters the fork is between 2 - 6 tons of A2G weapons ( F-15E 6 t) about many types ! with few AAMs/FTs and remains very useful these big bombs of 907 + kg especialy for big targets and/or buried, for this job by example an F-15E have an advantage over F-16 even the last can't be armed with GBU-28 of 2.2 tons as F-15E or I etc...The interest in attacking ground targets in much larger in Western air forces than in PLAAF because they often attack countries whose air forces are soon defeated (Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya come to mind ).
