I didn't say you said it was impossible. I was just relaying feedback I got from people who might know something about the subject. Don't have to be so touchy.Who said anything about "impossible"? I know I didn't, so let's not start with the straw men arguments. In fact I've already given you an example of an AESA that uses a separate IFF T/R system (the only one I know of), but my understanding of it is that its AESA necessitates this separation, so yes, if the J-10B's AESA used separate IFF transmitters, it would in fact be superduperspecial. In any case we are not talking about what is "impossible" or not, but what is most likely vs least likely. At that time, with those photos, it's pretty obvious that radar was a PESA.
Also, which displays and which commentators said that the J-10B uses an AESA? Do you have a link to said commentators?
I linked to a few examples in my first reply to you. There were a few more that I didn't include because digging through and collating old posts on my phone was a pain. There were also some images that no longer exist (so we don't know what those images were) but were in those old posts which seemed to strengthen the case at the time. If you want dig through old SDF CDF posts on your own to see what I mean. We spent *a lot* of time discussing the identity of the radar in question 6 years back. Look through the posts from around May/June 2011 all the way to February/March 2012.
