I understood that Chinese fighter are produced in batches, not in serial production as their numbers are limited to a few hundred. US fighters are often produced in thousands and so serial production is for them the more economical way.

Not sure if they are recent images, but at least they are some nice ones (incl. 1035 with WS-10B) ! :p

There is something suspicious about that photo. All the production J-10B we have seen so far all still have their yellow primeur. But this J-10B with the WS-10A is already painted grey. You have to wonder when was this picture taken and when was this plane produced. Could this be a photoshop ? Someone photoshopped the nozzle.

No ... no. 1035 was always grey ! The only think missing is the red number on the tail and under the cockpit.

I know that about the 1035, its just that i'm suspicious that a production plane with a WS-10A engine will be already flying in grey colors. I believe that the current batch of J-10B will all be using AL-31. Perhabs the next batch of planes will have the WS-10A or even in a few years. But is there a consensus why the J-10's so far haven't been produced with the WS-10A engines ? Is its reliability ? Production numbers ? Spoil up time ? Or all of the above ?

Money and performance? The latest AL-31 is apparently pretty good.

Where is the rest J-10B's of the 1st lot?

If this one reads: 2-39, the above one must be 201 or 2-01

If I'm not mistaken, then no. 2-01 or 201 was said to be the J-10C testbed !

All so far seen J-10B serials have indeed only 10x-numbers (with 101, 102, 103 and 104 spotted).

how about 101-104 being the preproduction batch, rather than some mystery j10c?

then 201-onward the first production batch, meant for an active duty regiment?

The 2-39 is a two-seater. So it looks to be the said J-10c and cannot be J-10B.
