Yes, that was my whole point. So far there isn't a single conclusive image out there which nicely shows whether the plane is PLANAF's or PLAAF's and being equipped with typical guided ordenance from the *other* service.

Now i am not saying it is so, but IF there really is a difference between PLANAF's and PLAAF's weapon integration and training (which is actually quite logical there is) then that's a missed opportunity. It effectively halves the potency of China's entire JH7 fleet. So, while logical, there is also quite a bit of examples around the world where air force has a detachment of planes equipped and trained for maritime strikes but at the same time that detachment keeps its other capabilities.

I think it would take a large number of photos of what you suggest to conclude that JH-7/As in PLAAF/NAF are armed differently. But there may be some explanations for this, such as PLAAF simply giving the standard strike role for their JH-7As, while PLANAF JH-7s train for maritime strike more often. That is to say, considering the number of photos we get, I even if what you suggest is present, if PLAAF train for conventional strike 95% of time, chances are our photos would have missed the other 5% of the flights with maritime strike load outs.

In this case I think the null hypothesis should be JH-7s of both arms are capable of firing common munitions, simply because it would standardise production, but more importantly, we have had no rumours to that effect, nor has anyone actually documented PLAAF and PLANAF JH-7 regiments and taken a representative sample of photos of their flights with mission load outs

Or the inital stance should be that we don't know and can't know until some photographic proof appears and not assume anything.

anyway, to stop derailing the threat. What's with those new j10 regiments? :D When did the last one stand up? Between Scramble.nl and Franco-Russe it seems it started happening between february 2012 and late 2012.

So next regiment, (allegedly PLANAF's?) should come within a year and a half? Meaning new planes should be arriving any week now and the whole regiment should convert by the end of this year?

But does that also mean we'll have to wait until end of 2014. for the first j10b to start equipping a regiment and that it won't fully stand up before middle of 2015.?

The most recent one is probably 12th division and that didn't start getting J-10 until end of last year I would imagine. So the last batch of J-10s we saw from CAC this year are probably to going to that regiment. I would imagine the first of production J-10Bs will go to the first J-10B regiment at the end of this year.

Any word on engine (AL-31 or WS-10 ) and radar (PESA or AESA ) on production J-10B ?

Banned Idiot
J-10B already fitted with AESA radar.but it is still odd that her IFF dipole antenna are embbed in the antenna.rather than strip antenna being use by USAF .

Don't know whether it was posted or not!

Celebrating 15 anniversary of J-10 series.

Not sure who produced this, but the image second in from the top right and in the timeline depicts and mentions the (Isreali) Lavi. Not sure if that amounts to tacit semi-official recognition of some Isreali design assistance on the J-10 or simply some fanboys assumptions.
