There were actually two J-10As, 626 and 629 that were making flights. Looks like this batch is finally almost finished production.

Thanks. But picture 3 clearly shows two J-10S and one J-10A (I think I have seen it before, so it would be a slightly older picture - in fact in post # 3171, 26 September where escobar said it was taken today).

Judging from construction numbers on J-10A, lots are at least 38 planes.

I wonder why prototype 6 is always there, I have a feeling as someone suggested that it maybe testing WS13, in which case it would be a fantastic development in the production of the JF17

I know Pakistan Air Force will 100% know the durability and lifetime of the new Chinese engine, as this is their main concern

Using composites reduction in weight and more powerful engine could allow Thunder to carry 3 anti ship missiles and also we can launched our own air launched cruise missile called the Ra'ad

The opportunitys are endless

There're recent photos of JF17 in CAC in the JF17 thread with Anti-ship and A2G missiles etc. So they're testing all kinds of stuffs, not just WS13, to make it a truly multi-role jet. And WS13 has been flying for more than a year now.

What A2G missiles? Can you link the picture please? Or are you talking about the C802 dummy they had it carry a while back?

I actually saw it in the video from J-20 thread, there are pictures of the recent test flights also posted on cd.

i think WS-13 should be ready in the next year or two.

Well schumacher provided a pic of JF-17 carrying dumb bombs -- not directly what either of you wanted, but a more strong indication of JF-17's multirole aspirations/intended capability, is that it also carried GPS/INS guided LS-6 glide bomb.

I don't think it is any news that JF17 is meant to be multi role, when the project was launched in 1990s it was meant to be designed as a multi role, that was a fundamental basis for JF17 because it was going to replace all A5, F7 and Mirage that's 3 Type of aircraft so multi role was pre request

I do hope WS13 excels in its performance like WS10 because RD93 doesn't look nice at airshows because its very loud and smokey

I know block 2 will have IRST, air to air refuelling and integration with AWACS there is no indication from Pakistan Air Force that it will have WS13 and infact air chief said that twin seat JF17 and WS13 are going to fitted in Block III not Block II so that's post 2016 by which time WS13 will have achieved a good record and prolonged flying hours test

For Pakistan engine is critical because of the high flying hours, in peace time elite squadrons like 9 and 11 can clock 240 hours and in war front this number has tripled and even 4 times!! So we are talking like 800+ hours, during Libyan campaign the RAF Typhoons stationed in Sicily at Trapani air base did these kinds of numbers, but Typhoon did it in no problems because of its great engine and amazing maintenance crews

according to november 2011 issue 'military tech knowledge magazine" (ping Kong tsi Zhi) J-10A uses VPX-1811-6U computer "slot"(?according to the magazine, aside from J-10A,it also adapted and integrated on other air, land and naval sensor.

Haven't seen that one before, thanks for posting it.

I don't think anyone can reasonably express any doubts about the JF17's multi-role capabilities and potential, I was just not aware of them testing A2G missiles on it and wanted more info if that actually happened.

Since everyone is posting armed JF17 pictures, I couldn't resist and want to add a few of my own. Maybe everyone can chip in and we can collate all armed JF17 pictures in one place so everyone can see at a glance what sort of weapons have been tested on it already.

Interestingly, it seems that of all the weapons shown at the JF17 static display at Fanborough, everything except for the pods have been seen flying with the JF17.

That is why the mentioning of A2G missiles caught my interest as I have not heard of any specific A2G missiles associated with the JF17 (other than the C802 of course, but that was clearly not what was suggested).

PS, we seemed to have drifted off topic. Maybe a mod should move all these JF17 related posts to the appropriate thread.
