A bit difficult to say what it is...

The exhaust is shiny... Either new or polished to be displayed. The strange thing is that it is a dual seater. I think that Deino got it correct. It is one of the first test planes for this power plant. It had its testing so now on the last trip on the road to a display for the rest of its life.

There's one thing different, the link you provide has a nozzle look very fake but this one look rather real. So I feel hard to say whether it's a real thing. Can't see the vertical tail fin, maybe under the fuselage.

A very big surprise, as we have yet to see the fielding of the last lot of J-10A, lot 06.

What is your reference for a new regiment now?

from the pics coming from Chengdu J10 are being readied, this will be the 8th J10 Regiment, I gather they are set to go to the 18th Division the 52nd Regiment?

Thanks, interesting. There have long been rumours that 18 Division would get J-10.

52 Regt has reportedly moved from Changsha to a new base, called Wuhan-Shanpo. I guess this is the base named Huangbei in GE (30 54 14 N 114 30 33 E), which was not yet completed when covered in 2005.

Lot 05 went to the "1 August" aerobatic team - 9 J-10AY and 3 J-10SY (01-12) are known, but there are 16shelters at Yangcun (39 22 24 N 117 05 36 E) - and to 12 PLANAF Regiment at Feidong (24 J-10AH/SH).

The most recent know deliveries were to 1 Regiment, FTTC, which got at least two J-10S, but probably also a number of J-10 this year. It is not known whether they are from Lot 05 or 06.

More on non-standard J-10 units.

FTTC 1 Regiment Jiugucheng

The known serials of this regiment range from 60185 to 60289, with 60288 and 60289 being recently delivered J-10S.

But the J-10 list posted by A. Man in the also has 01, 02, 04, 05 at FTTC. These are almost certainly the J-10 pre-series (Lot 00), which were delivered from Chengdy with serials 01-06.

Source reference: China – 2nd Largest Air Force # 10

Adding these 6 to the 15 in the 60185-60289 range, one arrives at a total of 21 planes.

GE update 30.05.10 of Jiugucheng shows that there are now 21 shelters (6+8+7), corresponding to 21 planes.

1 August Aerobatic Unit, 24 Fighter Division

The well known serial numbers of this unit are J-10AY 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 07, 08, 09, J10SY 10, 11, 12

But GE update 26.02.10 of Yangcun shows 16 shelters for this unit, indicating that it has or is planned to acquire 4 more.

12 Regt, 4 PLANF Division Feidong ex Luqiao ex Ningbo-Zhuanqiao

As nearly all serial numbers of this regiment are known, it appears to have a very unusual composition. The numbers are:

J-10AH 83041 (01), 83045 (05), 83046 (06), 483048 (08), 83049 (09) 83140 (10), 83141 (11), 83142 (12), 83143 (13), 83144 (14), 83145 (15)

J-10SH 83148 (18), 83149 (19), 83240 (20), 83242 (22), 83244 (24)

strongly suggesting the regiment has 16 J-10AH and 8 J-SH.

NIce video of 4. PLANAF Div. J-10AH's on delivery ... but I'm surprised for the date, since this unit must have received their twin-seaters already !?

Deino, of the 4 planes in there, only 1 is J-10S. This should complete the 4th PLANAF division. Will be interesting to see where the other J-10s from this batch end up at.

Also, the J-10 regiment in 24th division is generally a kind of confusing regiment. From the numbering, it goes from 50 to 84 of the pictures we have seen. It is possible that there is a gap in there, but that would be really abnormal. We've had PLAAF regiments with 30 or 40 aircraft before. It's possible that there are 36 J-10s in this regiment instead of the standard 24. I would not be surprised if there are 16 in August 1st. Which would result in having 2 full regiment in 24th division protecting the capital city.

Also, the typical ratio in a PLAAF or a PLANAF regiment is 3 single seater to 1 twin seater.
