But the nose of an aircraft has limited space though, so there's a real array size limit as well.
In that sense, yes.

There was a rumor that the J-10B AESA has 2000 modules.
It is apparently a smaller variant of the one on J-20, J-15, and J-11B, and a larger variant of the one on JF-17 Block II.
where did you get 2000t/r module?
i read 1000 1200 t/r module
Regarding the 30km - 60km for the J-10B IRST, I assume that 60km for target non-A/B tail-on & 30km non-A/B head-on? Not as high PIRATE, OSF or OLS-35 but I think its much better than any Flanker variant in the PLAAF & PLAN. Pretty good start.
I also noticed the 3^m2 @ 120km, and J-11B RADAR 3^m2 @ 150km by that :
J-11B RADAR : 1^m2 @ ~115km
Type-1473 (J-10A) : 1^m2 @ ~90km
KLJ-7 (FC-1) : 1^m2 @ ~70km
Type-1492? (F-8T) : 1^m2 @ ~60km
Would be interesting to see who spots who first in a mock fight(excluding the J-8F/F-8T off-course )![]()
Where did you get the information? The J-11B radar is still not released.
Are you referring to its original radar or the AESA?
... J-10A 1473 radar probably 700mm in diameter, 3 m? found effective the target distance is about 120 km, J-11B 1493 radar approximately 960 mm in diameter, 3 m? ...
1M~115km?!
detection range for APG-69 against 1m^m2 is 80km,and since J-10A radar nose is slightly smaller than F-16 ,the range might below 80km range.
