And yr so called western stuff is so expensive for a developed countries like India. India is now trying to switch to western stuff but it will take time , probably a decade to switch to mostwestern equipment. Right now it can't afford to do that.

India has ordered 8 (+ 4 option) P-8I Poseidon and 10 C-17 from the US, which I believe are not cheap. Also, the Indian Air Force has shortlisted Rafale and Typhoon for their 126 light fighter buy, and they do not come cheap either.

By the way, Russia always exports degraded (E or K) versions of equipment, and so does the US, I believe.

China to give squadron of J10-B fighters to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Taking bilateral defence relations to a new high,China will give Pakistan a squadron of the advanced J-10B fighter aircraft, a media report said.

The offer was made by senior Chinese military leaders to visiting Pakistan Army's Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen.Waheed Arshad, the Urdu daily Jang reported on Saturday, quoting defence sources.

The J-10B fighters are equipped with the latest weapons and Pakistan will be the first country, after China, to have these advanced aircraft, it said.

During his visit, Lt.Gen.Arshad was assured that the defence relationship between the two countries will reach new heights and China's efforts for the safety and security of Pakistan will be never-ending.

During his visit, Waheed called on General Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of People's Liberation Army and other officials including Lt. General Ren Haiquan, the vice president of the National Defence University.

Suppose I agree with you on this point. India is rich but can you tell me what kind of leverage India has on Russian that Russia need to seek permission from India for export to Pakistan? You have not answer that question and has mislead reader that India is the one allow re export of engines to pakistan. You claim Russia try to woo India but at the same time they are keep breaking contract and overcharge their customer for military deal. The MkI deal price is raise despite deal being agree on so as the carrier. I think you are aware of this thing. Yr points are contracting each other. The truth is India can't stop Russia re export engines to india. There was never yr so call Russian seek permission from India for export deal. I advise stop making this kind of fantasy. Insist on that theory will only male you looks stupid. Why not you say India give permission to allow Russian export s-300 PMU to china. Since you claim India has so much influence on Russian. And probably you can tell all of us s-300 will not have an threat on India... I think you have reAd too much BR stuff.

if true this would be a milestone in PAF history to get and operate such a advanced fighter jet, along with the new F16 C/D Block 52+ and J10B called FC-20 in Pakistan coupled together with JF17 Thunder the Pakistan Air Force will be amongst the best equipped in the region if not the world, with BVR excersies with Nato members and close co-operation with Turkey I think PAF can master BVR combat in the coming years, WVR combat is a tatic that is already drilled into every PAF fighter pilot

What is BR stuff? Is it something I ought to read?

Bharat Rakshak I would presume, its an Indian website about the Indian military, you have probably seen it. It is tolerable. I would avoid getting into forum discussions with either Indian or Pakistani posters, they can be remarkably stubborn and deluded when defending their particular feted nation and its military might.

The 'gifting' of J10Bs sounds very generous and a little too good to be true from Pakistan's POV. It would be quite something for them to be getting the J10B in the first place since it is better than the J10As in service with the PLAAF. To get them for free is a bit too much of a good thing in my view.

Although I remember previous reports about China 'gifting' Pakistan JF17s. Maybe it's just a translation issue or the previous report might refer to this instead.

Of courselves, it could be that the 'J10B' mentioned in the story is not the same plane as what we called the new DSI, WS10 equipped J10 being tested.

It would be more credible if this gift was off some refurbished J10As with PAF specific equipment.

If the J10B in the article is the plane we are calling the J10B on this forum, and the offer is true, then that would suggest some major behind the scenes stuff happening for the PLAAF to feel it needs to make such an overly generous offer.

The Americans might have concerns over just how secure their new blk52s and PC3s are in Pakistan. Or it could be something completely unrelated like the PAF agreeing some favourable exchange and pilot training exercises with the PLAAF and/or Pakistan allowing China to back out of their JF17 purchase commitment.

The longer the PLAAF goes without making a JF17 order, the less likely it is that they will make a purchase at all. Especially not for the size of commitment they signed up to. Just think how long it will take them to just build that many planes.

With the J10B coming along nicely, I am really struggling to see where the JF17 would fit in in the PLAAF's order of battle. The J10B would take the mid teer position, with the J10A taking the lower slot the JF17 would have taken.

It is common for China to sell Pakistan weapons better than itself equips.

Pakistan's A-5C, F-7P, and F-7PG were more advanced than what PLA had at that time.
