Re: Four easy steps to posting a picture

At 1:10 when the plane fires the missile, it's definitely a J-10, but the plane getting blown to pieces definitely looks like one of the "enemy" planes in Top Gun (The fictional Mig. 28 in the movie?).

Looking at the plane firing a missile, I noticed how much smoke the missile is generating. Is this normal to have smoke this thick? I mean it's almost completely blocking the plane. I think the missiles fired by F-15/16/18's have much thinner smoke...

the news report about the division of PLANAF, those J-10 fighters service in PLANAF.
about firing the missile, I think seeing video is different, you must be the pilot then you can fell the real.

A question: Why has the nose on j-10B been redesigned for AESA? Because of its weight, size etc?

Well AESAs don't have to necessarily be placed in canted noses, but I think that the cant of the nose allows for better "turn" performance? Now the nose/radome itself doesn't have to be canted, just the radar, so you can have a holder inside the nose cant the radar while outside it looks normal.

The nose is canted in order to reflect enemy radar waves upward.
An AESA don't need to steer the radar plate mechanicaly, so the nose cone is built accordingtly.

The video of J-10 firing missile is from of the CAC video of J-10 test firing WVRAAM. In order to track the firing properly. Definitely thick smoke must be present. Just like in air show, jet sprut smoke to give viewers a better sense of their flying track.

Do not worry, in war time. Such thick smoke will be absent.

Does someone think there's some sort of conspiracy here?

It's not surprising and I recall seeing Top Gun footage before in another context. I'm sure they just did it for effect and it was cheap to use it.

Well they do show a drone getting shot down near the end of the video. I think they added the top-gun footage for dramatic effects. CCTV is known for inserting random footages into their videos.

canted nose is design to deflect RF ,reducing aircraft over all RCS.

J-10 firing missile is real, but the tacket plane explosion is from the movie, but what ever J-10 firing, J-11, JH-7a appeared in the video are not relate to the news report, the news reported about the division of PLANAF confrontation exercises, one J-10 fighter defeated 13 " enemy " fighters, CCTV can not have such confrontation exercises video, they only can show any video about PLAAF fighters.
but the news is real.
