The mass production of J10B is inevitable due to the immediate retirment of old J7s. I doubt PLAAF would be able to afford using twin-engined J11 to replace those hundreds of light fighters. One may argue the alternative of down-sizing the fleet, yet the plan won't go far for a country the size of china, -10% in a decade tops?

I bet J10 & J11 will go 1:1 ratio in the combine fleet of PLAAF & PLANAF, not just as the combination of high-low costs, but that of air-superiority & multiple-role.

wow this seem really interesting i can't read russsian but it seem that their is a naval varient of the j-10 which might confirmed the blurry picture we saw few days ago

the two seat version was a scale up version of J-10, idea very similiar to mirage -4000,which eventually abandone.
instead of using chin mounted air intake, the designer should adapt side by side CARTE airintake similiar to F-18C,T-50 and F-22

this just looks like a whole bunch of fanboy speculation stuff from over the years, pieced together and printed in a magazine kinda like pinkov's magazines... alot of those pics of the different versions of the J-10 and possible J-10 twin engine carrier fighter/bomber and AWACS prop plane have been on the net since 2006, the new looking pic is the J-10 version with the conformal fuel tanks and the carrier version with new front and folded wing sin chematic format ... the CG carrier is not the varyag but the follow on speculation of the domestic chinese aircraft carrier design that also has been on the web for a while now

The question is how do the Russians know? Plus if you look at the their FC-20 depiction, it is the infamous CGI art image of the first time seeing the J-10 with DSI. But since that image got it right in some aspects with the emergence of J-10B, it puts a big question mark.

This question may seem off-topic.

Is there any official data about J-10A specs / performance? Or every thing we know about the old plane are just speculation.

I don't know why, but I've been wondering about this thing recently.
