This is actually very significant news, if the revocation of the JNF's charitable status becomes permanent.
The JNF is used to transfer a great deal of donation money to Israel, which is used directly to support illegal Israeli settlements. Many Canadian activists have worked hard over the years to revoke the JNF's charitable status.
It isn't just about preventing Canadian money from going to illegal Israeli activities. The JNF has functioned as a bulwark of the legitimacy in Canada of Israeli state policy. Canadians have been allowed to give money to a foreign government that violates the UN, and have even been allowed to fight for the IDF.
So if the JNF charitable status is revoked, it will further undermine the image of Israel in Canada, which up to this point has gotten a free ride, beyond most restrictions.
