Lieutenant General
With Trump all but guaranteed to be re-elected in November, I think the Israelis will now stall for time until after he is sworn in to launch their Lebanon.

This will also give the IDF its desperately needed time to rest and recover.

Once Trump is in power, expect American boots to do the bulk of the fighting and dying for Israel. So of course the Israelis are no longer in a rush to start its second front.

“I hereby call on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: If the International Court of Justice in The Hague does decide that the settlement enterprise is illegal – respond to them with a historic decision of applying sovereignty to the territories of the homeland,” Smotrich tells reporters ahead of his Religious Zionism party’s weekly faction meeting in the Knesset. “No one will move the people of Israel from their land.”

From what I’ve been seeing the past few weeks is the IDF leaving behind damaged tanks and APCs in various places in Gaza after they withdraw. The majority is from Hamas IED’s and tandem RPG. The moment I saw the IDF using Vietnam war era M113 in Gaza and the border with Lebanon it was a sign they were taking serious attrition.
Gaza has been a death trap for them. An urban warfare nightmare where the enemy can strike at any moment. And there is signs of no letting up from the Gaza resistance fighters as they can mass produce their tandem rpg Yassin 105 and IEDs. As long as they control the tunnels they can sustain this war of attrition on Israel.

The 3rd phase seems to be a tactic to lessen the rate of attrition and politically buys Netanyahu time until Trump get into power so he has full US backing in a regional war.
Why IDF isn't using chemical measures like tear gas to clear the tunnels?

Come to hear of it, I haven’t heard about flooding the tunnels since a while ago. If it worked it would be blasted on media 24/7
At the end of the day.

They would need to have proper control of the ground, both to actually start finding tunnels but also securing and setuping the equipment and stuff to flood the tunnels.

And well, they don't have proper control of the ground lol (the pictures of areas they 'captured' is more like, picture of areas IDF is moving around in, but in reality, they might only control a few buildings while resistance fighters can run around and attack them).

I wonder what their endgame is seeing as they are occupying very little of Gaza after multiple months of fighting. Combined with mass slaughter it seems like a perfect way for Hamas to recruit fighters from refugees and there’s not much IDF can do about it. To eliminate all these fighters the IDF would need to fully occupy Gaza and monitor refugees so they don’t join the fighting. Its unclear they are truly planning to “kill hamas” or have some other plan.

There's no endgame plan.

Or whatever the Israeli government or military have, it's pretty clear that they simply do not have the ability to fully carry out those plans (unless it is what is happening right now, in which case, their plan sucks lol).
