You exactly right. This is a true Guerilla warfare of thousand cuts. But same goes for Israel too as they will probably kill hundreds of thousands in retaliation which they call "mowing the grass".
What will determine how this fight will look like over the long term is strength of backers of the both sides. For Israel, Its the collective west, for Palestinians its the muslims who have deep religious significance for the Al Aqsa Mosque. If Western Decline continues and Rise of the Rest continues then Israel is doomed over the long term. Cause they cannot win against 400 million muslims all around them and 1.8 billion muslims also supporting. The only reason they were able to win for so long was the backwardness of the Muslims.
If that Backwardness is slowly gone and they gain GDP, military strength and influence, then Israel will not be able to survive.
Seriously, it seems to me that some people here are so carried away with emotions and bias that they make some irrational statements.
Since when has the Muslim world been organised or united? They mist they can do is just give soe statements of support to Palestine and that's all. People should stop dreaming of this irrational so called Ummah. It doesn't exists in this world every country including Muslim ones are out there for their interests. Palestine offers them nothing other than some religious token for the various regimes to fan the flames of religion and Islam and shore support to their gullible masses .
Moroever the decline of the so called West is always overstated , the West isn't going anywhere anytime soon..moroever majority of Muslim countries you mentioned are allied or partners of the West. So I dont understand your point of them being against Israel and the West. Let's be relative for once and try and make some rational discussions here.
I believe its either Hamas planned this very well with Irans and Hezbollah support ad caugt Israel completely off guard or Israels nationalistic government led by Netanyahu who was so unpopular that he was said to be the most unpopular leader for a long time in Israel allowed Hamas to strike with more ease just to shore support for his government and get re-elected. His government has been opposed by many Israelis especially the left( who want better and more open treatment of Palestine and withdrawal of settlers) and even many in the military were against his policy of power grab against the supreme Court to protect himself from prosecution. I don't believe in conspiracy theories usually but at least there's a good rational on why he will make it easier for Hamas terror group to strike so he can unite the country(who was already very divided) under him and invade/strike Gaza as hard as possible while expanding the settlements which is what is nationalistic party always wanted.
This Hamas attack gives his government the perfect excuse and silences all the moderates and leftists etc who opposed his government. Unfortunately its not good news for Gazans whatsoever. Things will only get farrrrrrr worse for them than ever before.
