Look at this spin how China is to blame for the rise of ISIS.

Yeah and if the US didn't take down Saddam Hussein there would be no ISIS.

The Diplomat articles are not known for their intelligence, but rather rhetoric disguised as intelligence discussion. It's another "do as I said, not what I do" BS again.

I've learned to just ignore these kinds of ridiculous articles.

Just like after the Ferguson incident erupted in riots, the NYTimes had a write-up to remind people that China has its own racial tensions. Strangely, they always have the habit of going to the other side of the world to drag other others into their mud. Why not UK?

But will Turkey now sign up to the US program of bombing IS or is it part of the agreement that it won't? The US aircraft are now operating from flattops in the Persian Gulf and the French from a base in UAE. The whole US policy looks ramshacle.

It appears that the main thing making US policy tricky is that the US does not want to co-ordinate with or consciously aid Iran and Iran-friendly factions such as the Syrian government and Iraqi Shiite militias, or even remotely appear to do so, when reality dictates that hurting ISIS will indirectly assist Iran and Iran-friendly factions. Whether the US may be persuaded by Saudi Arabia, other allies, and/or American hawks to go as far as to use the attack on ISIS forces as a cover to also attack Iranian and Iran-friendly forces, namely Syrian government forces and its allies, is another tricky consideration.

Iraqi Army in trouble again :

Hundreds of Iraqi soldiers missing or stranded after attack on army camp

BAGHDAD — Hundreds of Iraqi soldiers were trapped or missing Sunday after a chaotic retreat from an army base in western Iraq, military officials said, underscoring the ability of Islamic State insurgents to remain on the offensive despite expanded airstrikes by the United States.

At least 820 soldiers were stationed at Camp Saqlawiyah in Anbar province, north of the insurgent-controlled Iraqi city of Fallujah, when it came under attack from five suicide bombings Sunday afternoon, said Lt. Col. Ihab Hashem, a deputy commander with the Iraqi army’s 8th division who was at the camp. Two bombers drove explosives-packed armored vehicles and three others detonated vests, he said.

In a statement Sunday night, Iraq’s Defense Ministry confirmed that it had lost contact with some of its “heroic soldiers” during operations in Anbar but did not give numbers. It vowed to continue to “clean every inch of land” of militants.

Five battalions had been stranded at the base without supplies for six days after Islamic State militants seized a bridge that was the last access route to the camp. Soldiers said they were forced to boil water from a muddy stream and had been running low on ammunition when the bombings occurred.

“We lost control,” Hashem said after crossing territory controlled by the Islamic State to reach another army base. “We couldn’t gather to retreat. Some are dead, others stayed.”

Iraqi army breaks siege on ISIL-besieged troopers

Iraqi army forces, backed by volunteer fighters, have managed to break a siege by ISIL Takfiri militants on hundreds of soldiers in an area of the western province of al-Anbar.

Army spokesman Lieutenant General Qassim al-Moussawi said on Sunday that Iraqi forces were able to liberate overnight as many as 400 troops who had been surrounded by ISIL terrorists three days ago in the Sijir area near the city of Fallujah, located roughly 69 kilometers (43 miles) west of Baghdad.

The Iraqi military had launched a major operation against the ISIL militants in the city of Fallujah earlier in the day.

Over the past few weeks, Iraqi forces have killed a large number of the Takfiri terrorists in their mop-up operations in the area.

The ISIL terrorists control large swathes of Syria’s east and north. The ISIL sent its Takfiri militants into Iraq in June, seizing large parts of land straddling the border between Syria and Iraq.

The Takfiri terrorist group has committed heinous crimes and threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians and Izadi Kurds, during its advances.

Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and some other Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.
