Breaking: Syrian Army, Hezbollah capture the strategic village of Al-Qarassi in southern Aleppo
from: By on December 20, 2015
Moments ago in the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Hezbollah, and Harakat Al-Nujaba – imposed full control over the strategic village of Al-Qarassi after almost two weeks of intense firefights with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham.
According to a battlefield journalist that is embedded with Hezbollah in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies seized Al-Qarassi after killing over 30+ enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham; this high death toll has forced the aforementioned Islamist rebel groups to retreat west in order to decrease their casualties.
With Al-Qarassi fully under their control, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies are now in prime position to strike the strategic town of Khan Touman; this aforementioned town is located along the strategic Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway) that flows through both the provincial capital of Aleppo and Idlib.
Al-Masdar News has received several preliminary reports from the southern Aleppo front this morning; however, many of these reports have yet to be verified and will be posted once they are confirmed by our military analysts.
Syrian Army, Hezbollah Capture Khan Touman in Groundbreaking Victory in Aleppo
from: Sun Dec 20, 2015 12:32
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army alongside the National Defense Forces and Hezbollah fighters pushed the militant groups back form more territories in the Southwestern part of Aleppo province and regained full control over the town of Khan Touman on Sunday, informed sources said.
"Khan Touman, the main stronghold of the terrorist group of Jeish al-Fatah in the province, was recaptured minutes ago by the Syrian army and its allies," the sources said.
"After recapturing of Qarassi village, the Syrian government forces stormed the militant groups near Khan Touman and broke through their defense lines, killed many and forced them to retreat from the town," the sources added.
"Khan Touman and its nearby farms are under the full control of the Syrian forces," they said.
At least 81 Jaish al-Fateh militants were killed in the clashes in Khan Touman this morning. The Syrian army has also captured, at least, 10 militants.
"The Takfiri militant groups also withdrew forces from the Architecture Hill near Khan Touman after leaving behind scores of dead members," the sources added.
The Militants are now without a primary supply route from the provincial capital of Idlib to Aleppo province as the Syrian government troops have now cut off the Aleppo-Damascus Highway
Earlier reports said that the Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters, in a joint massive raid, pushed back the militant groups from more lands in the Southern part of Aleppo province after hours of fierce clashes.
"The militant groups withdrew forces from Qarassi village as a result of heavy offensives of the Syrian government forces," the army said.
"Scores of the militants were killed or wounded in the attacks," the army added.
"Qarassi is now under the full control of the army and its allies," the army pointed out.
Hezbollah, Syrian Army cutoff the Aleppo-Damascus Highway after seizing Khan Touman in southern Aleppo
By on December 20, 2015
It took several weeks for the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah to seize the imperative town of Khan Touman that is located along the vast Aleppo-Damascus Highway (M-5 Highway); however, moments ago, the pro-government forces officially declared they are in full control the town after intense firefights with Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.
Al-Masdar News was informed that Hezbollah led the charge this morning, which ultimately paved the way for the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and Harakat Al-Nujaba to help push out the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra to the Idlib Governorate’s northeastern border.
What does the capture of Khan Touman mean to the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies?
Well, perhaps the most important thing is that the Islamist rebels are now without a primary supply route from the provincial capital of the Idlib Governorate to the provincial capital of the Aleppo Governorate.
Without this primary supply route to their militants in southern Aleppo, the Islamist rebels will be forced to find an alternative route to the provincial capital in order to evade the Syrian Arab Army’s guard posts that will likely be constructed along this highway in the near future.
