Breaking: Syrian Army captures strategic hilltops overlooking Idlib countryside
By on December 16, 2015
Moments ago in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Qurdaha, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – imposed full control over the hilltops of Point 793 and Shayr Al-Sahaab after clashing with the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
According to a military source from the 103rd Brigade in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains), the Syrian Armed Forces seized Point 793 and Shayr Al-Sahaab after they advanced east from their positions at Jabal Al-Kaft, which is located on the border of the Idlib Governorate.
The capture of Point 793 and Shay Al-Sahaab means that the Syrian Armed Forces are officially overlooking the strategic town of Al-Sirmaniyah in the Idlib Governorate; this aforementioned town is the key to capturing the rebel stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour and the Al-Ghaab Plains.
Earlier today, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade captured the Al-Nuba Mountains (Jabal Al-Nuba) after a week long battle with Jabhat Al-Nusra; these mountains separate Jabal Al-Turkmen (Turkmen Mountains) and Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains) from one another in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside.
