Is it possible for China to stockpile the largest amount of nuke warheads?

in my opinion, it's less so about the quantity of nuke china has, but more so about china's willingness to use them. Currently, china promised no-first-use regarding its nuclear arsenal, as well as promised no use of nuke against non-nuclear armed countries. Many countries in the world are counting on these promises; after all, nukes are useless unless there is a threat of using them. While it's true this promise shows good will, it also restricts the usage of china's nuclear arsenal. The only way to actually use nukes again a country such as vietnam is to break this promise, which would create a very bad precedent, and many countries would have second thoughts should china make any other promises in the future.

I think a more reasonable modification would be "no first use" on non-nuclear and non-WMD states. If a non-nuclear foreign country attacks your population center with chemical or biological weapons and kill several hundred thousand people, there's no reason why you cannot retaliate with a nuclear-tipped cruise missile.

As for Vietnam, Hanoi is a short distance from the Chinese border. Nuclear weapons is unnecessary. Actually you don't even need ballistic missiles, the capital is within cruise missile range.

Of course those geeks maintain that the Japanese Aegis is superior to the current USN Aegis (I don't know whether they refer to the 7th or 8th generation) and many USN officers would actually envy their counterparts in JMSDF working with this system. What do you think about that bdpopeye, are they nuts??

The only envy would come with the luxurious living quaters on the JMSDF ships as compared to the USN. All officers on JMSDF ships have one man state rooms. Enlisted are bunked no more than 6 to a room. Only senior officers on USN ships have one man stateroom as far as I know.

Also the JMSDF/ROKN ships do not deploy as often as the USN ships. And they spend a lot more time in there home port. Where as USN ships are constantly in and out of port.

Plus as pointed out the USN has 57 Arliegh Burkes DDGs and 22Ticos. Those nations combined will never match those numbers.

I always wonder how living space on PLAN's ships are arranged, although my guess is that they would be very close to those in the USN.

:eek:ffYou are probably correct..

On larger ships the USN has 6 man state rooms for Junior officers. Two man and one man staterooms for more senior officers, and Very nice cabins for Captains and admirals.

Enlisted men??? E-6 and below are in berthing compartments on larger ships that range in size from 12 men to 200 men for larger divisions on carriers.

E-7, 8 & 9 berthing is also large but much more personal with more space.:eek:ff

My bad gents..Let's get back on topic..
