The J-10 looks suspiciously similar to the Lavi and we know China and Israel had military ties back then with China license producing the Python AAMs.
But the wing is different as is the intake. I wouldn't be surprised if they got initial Lavi data but then changed the design.
Look at the tail of the Lavi and J-10. They are too similar.

Stop this nonsense! ... yes for sure the tail looks similar! ... I think a B737 & and A320 have more in common than these two!

I really do not think it is a good idea to export J10ce to Iran. They are no match against F35I's, neither does Iran have a proper system to engage in electronic and network centric war against the IAF, it will take atleast a decade for them to build an effective system(optimistic here). Meanwhile, IAF will surely try to destroy nascent Iranian air force before it matures.

First, they should build a powerful AD system throughout the nation and only then think about getting new jets. Even then everyone must remember that is it IAF we are talking about - they are easily the boldest air force and will absolutely take their chances.

1 Rafale shot down significantly boosted J10c's image. Now imagine what would happen if IAF massacres them like flies or sabotages them on ground(commando infiltration or missile attack). They shouldn't even think about getting the jets before they build a proper AD system and training regime.

Not to mention the political consequences of supplying these jets to Iran. The gulf states have potential to be customers of Chinese jets in the future, it would compromise potential buyers and only strengthen the US military-industrial grip in that part of the world.

This transaction does not benefit China and Iran should go for Russian jets - alteast Russia can bear the political consequences.

Iranian news media (Khorasan news per

This has apparently been picked up by some Western media too (

My two cents:

I would take this with a grain of salt until more information is available, preferably from reliable Chinese sources. These Iranian interest in J-10 as been reported for the past decade leading to nothing, although the recent SCO defense minister visit in Qingdao and Israel/US war does heightened the urgency for a deal.

On face value, multiple converging events makes this a natural possibility, from the end of UNSC weapons/arms sanctions on Iran in 2020, and inability of Russia to deliver Su-35 as ordered, demonstrated Israeli/US air superiority over Iran, as well as J-10CE's combat-tested results. Even if Su-35 does get fulfilled, J-10CE is a natural numerical filler for Iran's obsolete airforce, and arguably superior to Su-35 in avionics/sensors/missile... Even the basic presence of a 4.5 gen will complicate Israeli air operations. Now from China's perspective, it's really about payment (China does not want oil-jet barter, but cash preferably), and perhaps an more enduring pause on hostilities.

Iran's not ready for this at all. They have far too much foundational work including organizational integrity before it's appropriate to consider this step. J-10CE/J-35E to Iran:
