If Iran buys the J-10 it will be quite funny actually cause Israel is the original designer of the Lavi, which is how J-10 came about. Essentially Israel designed the plane that will be in the hands of their biggest enemy.

The J-10 looks suspiciously similar to the Lavi and we know China and Israel had military ties back then with China license producing the Python AAMs.
But the wing is different as is the intake. I wouldn't be surprised if they got initial Lavi data but then changed the design.

J-10 is using medium-coupled canard with delta wing, while Lavi is using close-coupled canard with sweep wing, technically speaking, there are significant differences in the aerodynamic design between J-10 and Lavi. The basic design of J-10 is based on one of the later designs of J-9 project, introduced some Lavi technology, but the essence is convergent evolution.

Lavi is a barebone 3.8 gen plane that was supposed to end up looking like F16..

After many decades, many new tech is incorporated into J10c which became a 4.5 gen plane.
