You don't really need to wait if your top leadership has been assassinated? Pakistan took out Indian jets before the payload even landed in Pakistan. They need to respond right away.

Israel pretty much took out a good chunk of Iran's military leaders and disabled many of their defenses, so they have to regroup. As incompetent as the Iranians are, not responding to an attack of this magnitude will mean the end of the IRI.
Although concerning the anti-ICE protests, this could have ramifications for how the US responds. If Trump receives more legal defeats and the protesters are emboldened, even if he didn't want to involve the US in this war he may change his mind to save face and distract the public.
I am thinking they used US to say 'Israel wont attack you till the sat-sunday meet' , Iran took it serious that israel wont disobey US. They lowered their guard which israel was waiting for and attacked.
If Iranian leadership is dead then the regime change is here already

At first, you'd be surprised... then, you realize this is Iran and you're not at all surprised. They probably still had these top scientists and generals walking around markets shopping for vegetables and going home to normal apartment buildings on a 9-5 schedule. Israel could have probably killed them all with random street stabbing assassinations. Oh, and not only do they live in regular apartments, they all live together in the same building too, so one missile that levels the the complex can take them all out so why plan 15 different stabbings when you can just do that?
Iran’s air defenses were crippled in last year’s air strikes. Israel has indicated that this is juat the beginning and that they may continue bombing targets in Iran for at least 2 weeks.
