Airborne Corps is still using a Blue camo though and adopted recently and deployed with it recently too with combat potentially possible. Just why?Slowly but surely, the smurf camo is meeting its inevitable end...
Are you asking why Airborne Corps are still using the blue camo while the marine corps are slowly changing to the new ones? Well, it takes time, doesn’t it. We only saw the new camo last October, it’s been less than a year. I’m sure soon enough all will be updated.
If you are asking why they had blue camo at the first place, there’re plenty discussion in this issue already. there’re even video interviews with the exact person who designed the camo.
I'm asking why was it adopted in the first place, especially recently in 2018-2019(?) since the new star sky camo must've already been in development and also why they didn't switch to 07 pattern, if not desert the universal pattern at least since they actually got deployed, via ground transportation to a potential combat zone. I've never seen the interviews reasoning out blue camo, and idk how that reasoning seems to have lead to adoption of more blue camo, since before, Airborne would use regular camo and blufor would use old woodland or Dcu copies instead of the blue bdu's. Starry sky seems to finally make lots more sense. Vanity camo's should be kept for parade not field use.
In this episode of 《国防科工》 or "National Defense Science and Technology" relating to demonstration of China's domestic produced sniper rifles. The soldiers demonstrating the various rifles are seen wearing a new armored vest. At 5:35 and 10:15 you can see up close the pattern is the new starry sky.

What are you rambling on about? The airborne blue camo belongs to the Type-07 family, which was developed FIFTEEN years ago. Where and how did you get the impression that it was adopted in 2018-2019?
Like by78 said, the current blue camo for both marine and airborne was introduced 15 years ago. In fact, in terms of the blue colour it has been the case for over 30 years since the end of 80s! So they were definitely not adopted last year.
If your question is why they were still issuing those type of blue camo knowing that the new ones were already in development, then it’s quite simple. Because they were in development not in production back in 2018. Unlike now, the new ones are in full production. That’s why the blue ones are not being issued anymore.
As to why they adopted blue camo at the first place back in the end of 80s and continued “tradition” until now, one of the ex-marine who helped to develop the current digital blue camo once answered during an interview not that long ago, he mentioned the purpose of Chinese marine was simply to stay alive before getting onto the beaches and secure the landing area, and on top that there are many tiny island and reef in the South China Sea which need the marines to defend and indeed take over when time comes. Therefore he believed blue camo was the best option for majority of the tasks Chinese marine face. You don’t have to agree with him. Nevertheless, that’s the reason. Of cause recently things have changed, that’s also why the introduction of the new camo.
