What? This is just incredible. It seems the prevailing institutional attitude remains such that grunts are regarded as disposable, to be casually thrown away in human wave attacks. By the way, do you have any information on PLAGF/PAP's basic medical training?

Human wave attacks is a bit simplistic, but it is certainly the case that infantry overall in the PLAGF are not particularly prioritized.

In some ways, the PLAGFs focus on higher yield/higher order capabilities (fires, artillery, recce, EW, logistics) has been to the detriment of the lower yield capabilities. While somewhat undignified for infantry, I can't say it was necessarily a poor choice in the past.

Your inability to approach this topic in a calm and objective way is confusing considering that the information you are reacting to has been floating around for years and decades in some cases. Also, where does this attitude of condescension towards people of low socioeconomic backgrounds come from? "Peasants"? Seriously? Surely you can't think that the PLAGF's training issues is the fault of the conscripts?

I agree, you can @by78, you should approach this in a less triggered manner.

I have known you for a while, and I have half a suspicion you are writing like that deliberately to get a response from some users that you've had arguments with in the past.

Chill out.

The quality of this thread has really gone downhill fast. Very different from the navy and air force. Most of the recent pages are just back and forth between two arguing parties.

While I understand the need for self-critisicm, some of these critiques feels like rage bait from trolls or are meant to start an argument between certain users on this forum.

Guys chill, I think I can speak for the rest of the observers here that we came for more info/pictures of grunt kit/weapons not petty arguments.

Also i swear leakage is a troll that's trying to piss people off by rage baiting. His most recent post are emotional charged and full of hatred in my eyes.

One way to speed up the process is to open up the Great Firewall so that these buffoons can see how to put on a plate carrier correctly as they watch flannel daddy shoot his guns.

Another is to send off a couple thousand soldiers to muck around in Afghanistan and have a few of them get swamped in the process, incentivizing competency (may completely backfire of course).

I'm not actually sure that the problem will self-correct; it has already been 4 years since Type-21 and 6 since Type-19 --- enough time for two rounds of dewy-eyed privates to see new gear as their first gear --- yet much of the same problems persist as from day one. And the PLA inherently doesn't have the foundational combat experience necessary to turn a private first class into a clear-minded NCO.

I think the best option is to hire foreign trainers from NATO militaries or something like that in a meaningful quantity. We've seen that kind of espionage in the PLAAF but not so much in the PLAGF.
Guntubers get their content reuploaded onto Chinese sites which helps with spreading knowledge to the public. It's why alot people are criticising the PLA/PAP PPE for a long time now.
Type 21 vest is single size? It makes so much sense now. The story of not wanting to issue 5 usd max tourniquet is pure insanity.
The vests come in S, M and L but units sometimes through sheer laziness will just do a single bulk purchase.

That's quite a novel place to strap on a knife/bayonet. Not sure what they're trying to do, but they should probably stop.

If the PLAGF looked more credible, there might not be any war in the first place. That being said, I'd like some more context on those pictures.

almost certainly some platoon leader watched one too many westerns and decided that the boot knife is peak warfighting tactical superiority and it looked cool and thus decided all his soldiers must wear a bayonet like that? the boots are falling apart, the knife-straps are falling down, the plagf has fallen to the least prepared of all the branches.

I confirmed three times that this thread is "Infantry Combat Equipment" and not "Toxic quirks thread mocking the quality of PLA infantry", but judging from the long-term trend, it is indeed. I only see the finger-pointing and quarrels implying that "my right vision is not valued by the PLAGF", and no one is willing to discuss any meaningful information.

Obviously, no, the Type 21 comes in three sizes. Special forces actually have more and more self-purchasing rights and budgets in the past 5 years. We can see in a lot of photos that SF including Jiaolong uses many unofficial or non-21 gear and other equipment.

I don't know where this guy got the information about Jiaolong, Epoch Times?

We are not mocking PLAGF member for a difference in ways of doing things but achieving the same goal but their lack of basic common sense you cant convince me holding rifle by the barrel not adjusting their vest or strapping knife on their boot like that is anything but ridiculous. This is exactly just the symptom of what's called “和平病“ (peace disease) which has been acknowledged officially by chinese state media. With all of that being said I still dont think PLAGF is a paper tiger they still going to come out on top of any possible conflict around china. I mock their action because its genuinely funny and all the people who defend those stupid action hell and back for no reason isnt helping.
