Excuse me, does this French soldier and the two American officers below also have intellectual problems?Since you're so "professional," you should be able to see just how basic their mistakes are, right?

. A lack of professionalism in other militaries does not negate the lack of professionalism of the PAP. It's like saying you're not sick with the flu because you know other people who are sick with the flu. Two wrongs don't make it right.

It's absurd how you dismiss errors in foreign militaries as inconsequential, yet leap to questioning the intelligence of Chinese soldiers over similar issues—such blatant hypocrisy!

This is the Sino Defence Forum. The prefix Sino refers to China or Chinese, and this particular thread is about the Chinese armed services, not the French, American, or Papuan armed services. If you wish to discuss the lack of professionalism of the militaries of other countries, feel free to do so in the World Armed Forces sub-forum.

No military force in the world can claim perfection from its soldiers – the PLA/PAP is no exception. Yet you deliberately seek out and maliciously mock every minor misstep by Chinese troops, revealing not professional critique but pathological prejudice.

In all seriousness, the incompetence and backwardness highlighted here is deeply concerning. China's modernization of its armed forces isn't a vanity project, it is of the utmost importance to national security. It is an existential matter. What happened to Russia in Ukraine must not happen to China.

The PLAGF/PAP is tasked with adopting modern, "informationized", "intelligentized", network and system-centric warfare; this is very complicated stuff. The Chinese leadership and people must have confidence in their military. The Yakety Sax images shown here undermine that confidence and that cannot be acceptable.

Step up.

I don't think we need to be extremely worried about this because this is an isolated incident.

A lot of the people who actually join as grunts are young and not extremely high educated. For many, it might be their first job.

"a lack of professionalism in other militaries does not excuse ones in PAP"

Arguably yes it does. Does China actually need a baseline professionalism higher than say France or US? Not necessarily, because these guys are not going to be impacted that much by their lack of professionalism in a war.

I don't know what you mean about Russia, aren't they the ones that care a lot about their image, always show "correct" and "manly" behavior from their troops, unlike the above examples from China, US et al?

Thats actually an excellent example of you can look or be as supposedly professional with your ground forces as you want, fat lot of good it does once their contracts expire and most of them just go home leaving gaps in your lines. To avoid facing Russia's issues, China just needs to have motivations to fight and a clear contract structure.

In a war, the above guy will, in his current state at the very tops be acting as a guard in occupied territory. He will unlikely even see anything but potential small arms. Now from his unit, maybe 1/4 of the most ambitious to stay long term in the military and continue their education will prove themselves and join a frontline unit. This is the same as with any army, a lot of the low level ones aren't necessarily passionate or skilled in what they do.
