Looks like they are using the Velcro. Not sure how wound that is. Unless the shell was modified with the helmet bolted through.

Well, it looks like they have a frame, with all sides angled inward, built on the helmet. The bottom of the camera should have a protrusion that angles outward and should click into the frame on the helmet.

A typical camera tripod would have a similar two-piece device on the top to hold the camera in place. I used to have a two-piece GPS holder in my car with a similar design.

Took me a while to remember this so.
No this is mounted on the Velcro.
Had it been rail mounted there would have been a attachment mount on the rail. The rails are M1913 Mil spec.

Possible but not the same type as the FAST rails which have a wrap around style these seem a straight line . Also the cover would restrict use of the NOD suspension bungee.

They need more than gloves. They need individual radios and ear-protection for every single infantryman and a lot more ammo than the 4-5 magazines that they carry on the man.

At least they have the body armor now. But I guess it would take a few dozen dead PLA soldiers until the brass is willing to spend money on the PLA infantryman.

Unfortunately you are right.. there are certain things, perhaps even things that may be considered trivial that are easily overlooked until you are battle hardened and unfortunately blood spilled before things improved. Some things or improvements can only be attained from actual warfare.
Gloves for example may be considered trivial until you try changing the superhot barrel of a machine gun or find yourself in a hand to hand CQB combat with an opponent. A person wearing hardened knuckled and cut resistant tactical gloves will also have an advantage over someone not wearing one for example. If you injure your hand/fingers and there are a million ways to do so, you are essentially useless as a frontline soldier.
Even things like RWS and slat armor on vehicles came about from lessons learned through wartime experience. No way the designers would've even thought about it in their original design specs.

A bit late message but I think it's also for the fact that Chinese army so large (+900.000) that changes are going to happen extremely slowly when compared to smaller ground forces and same is happening in India where there over 1 million soldiers in the army.

If PLA's ground forces were "only" 500.000 strong I bet it would be better equipped, but I guess there is still mentality of "bigger is better" in Chinese armed forces even after recent reductions.

I don’t think the PLA still has the mentality that “bigger is better”. For several decades, the goal of the PLA has always been to make the PLA lean and mean. They want to be able to fight a high intensity, short, high-tech and local conflict with elite and modern troops.

However, one thing that the PLA has to deal with is the large population and large territory of China. With 1.4 billion people to protect, you will need a large force. There is just no other way around it. If you reduce it too much, your armed forces will be spread too thin no matter how elite they are.
