The plate seems to broadly match with what Oxide received so he probably got an official plate. Also, are the layers on that plate delaminating?!?
type 15 "standard plate" whether it is PAP or PLA version, is a "co-defense plate". It is originally used with GA3-level bulletproof soft lining, plate itself can't compete with the current bulletproof plates

So shoes are garbo, plates garbo, nvg garbo I think China needs to step up and stop producing subpar equipment for infrantry man the need to raise the budget and allocate it the ground units cause this is embarrassing

standard plate is a lightweight design, using lightweight equipment to cope with low-intensity or high mobility environments. It can be regarded as a remnant of the PLA's light infantry doctrine.

The performance of the reinforced plate is quite impressive, especially the latest type 21, definitely NJI 4+. Now the reinforced plate is the standard configuration for PAP but not yet for the PLA, even though PAP doesn't actually need such high protection

The plates in the video are for PAP, they have different standards than frontline PLA solutions and you think someone actually got their hands on an actual frontline in service PLA plate? If none of this were good and garbage like you said they would fix it

PLA version of the Type 15 will not be much better than the PAP version, even the standard plate of the Type 21 is only at the level of NJI III+

And you think these will face the same as the PAP ones in the video that was second hand and with no ballistic backer? If the PLA plates were that horrible, I find it unlikely they would give them to frontline units like the ETC

Front-line troops are equipped with reinforced plates as standard, there is no doubt about this. The standard of GJB III is to withstand 3 rounds of type 53 7.62*54r API within 15 meters, and the reinforced plate can withstand overpressure round, definitely enough

I agree than, but yes the type 15 for non frontlines should be better but it’s understandable given the fact their less likely to face threats unlike the ETC

PLA purchased 900,000 standard plates and 480,000 reinforced plates in 2020. Based on the distribution of reinforced plates on the front and standard plates on the back for each person, and excluding warehouse redundancies, etc., this can meet the protection needs of at least 30~400,000 infantry soldiers. For TW and the Plateau, it is sufficient.
