It'd work, provided that your projects were managed well, budgets weren't overshot by a huge margin, and without ridiculous delays that'd make your products obsolete at debut.

And what'd guarantee your suppliers won't play you for suckers when you need to restock urgently? Prime example would be Argentina. Unlike India, China has been played for suckers by the West and the Soviets for the last 150 years, they know all too well it's better to rely on your own.

And your "holy alliance" is about as solid as to how many ace-in-a-hole you have compare to, say, China? What guarantee that the West would immediately come to your aid instead of watching you bleed? Wasn't the last Sino-India War not hard enough a lesson? If you want to be the "big boy" true superpower grade player, then don't rely so much on the others in defense matter.

Yet another Mig-27 crash in india

An Indian air force MiG-27 ground attack aircraft crashed in Rajasthan, western India, on Wednesday according to the IANS news agency. The pilot ejected safely.

It is the fourth crash involving a MiG-27 in India this year.

The MiG-27 was initially produced in the Soviet Union but was then produced in India under license by HAL. The Indian Air Force operates around 150 of the type.

Re: Indian Army & Navy news thread

Obviously the fact that the US is allowing the F/A-18 to be license produced is huge news. Jeff and Popeye have already adressed the political implications of this deal. But how would India use these F-18s? The Vikramaditya/Admiral Gorshkov does not have catapults. The Virrat is being decomissioned. And the Air Defense Ship is not going to be in service for quite a while. So what would they be flown off of?

They could be land based. Switzerland, Canada, Australia and other countries fly Hornets out of land bases.

Probably India would operate F-18 as land based air bases, most probably to defend its sky on wester and eastern border. Naval use doesn't seems possible in near future before 2015. I'm also researching about which fighter jet may win and think that F-18 has better chance then any other competitor due to its technology as well as political benefits. :)

Do you mean - 黃達 ?

I want to search.
Can you please give me links (if you have).

English language searches led to ludicrous results.

Is that a Standard Tibetan language word or Chinese (Traditional) word ?
Or should I be searching Chinese (Simplified), instead ?

Haven't been able to search Standard Tibetan searches on the net, so far ... though :(

Anyway, different language searches are interesting :)

Sorry, I misspelt the pinyin. Da Wang 达旺

But 达旺 translates to Tawang, not Da Wang (I tried more than one Chinese to English tranlators .... all of them translate to Tawang).

It's a language translation issue ....... e.g. like China, which when translated to Hindi will look like Cheen (चीन). Still even Indians don't call China as "Cheen", when talking in English.

But some naive Hindi to English translator could indeed translate चीन as Cheen.

I was assuming this was a case similar to Senkakau vs Diaoyu. But those two are indeed different words, and not just a translation / pronunciation issue.

It was a rare sight on the border at Ladakh this Republic Day as soldiers of the Indian and Chinese armies jointly hoisted the Indian National Flag. Spokesman, Northern Command, K S Rathi said that a border personnel meeting was organised between India and China on Wednesday at the Indian Border Personnel Meeting Hut in Chushul, Ladakh, to celebrate Republic Day.

“The Chinese delegation was led by Senior Colonel Fan Jun. The delegation was received by the Indian Delegation leader, Brigadier Y K Joshi,” he said.

Rathi, commencing the meeting, said the Indian National Flag was hoisted and both the Chinese and Indian army personnel saluted the flag. “Later, the meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual trust and camaraderie and greetings were exchanged.”

He said that both sides agreed to maintain peace, stability and tranquility in the region. Rathi said that at the end of the meeting both delegations saluted the Tricolour and the Chinese delegation was escorted back to Line of Actual Control. “The friendly interactions between the two forces have played a significant role in promoting and strengthening bonds of friendship, mutual trust and confidence between the two armies,” he said.

India and China have signed two landmark agreements, namely Peace and Tranquility Agreement in 1993 and Confidence Building Measures in 1996.
